Music & Image is a joint initiative of the Atlantic Film Festival and the East Coast Music Association. Music & Image is dedicated to the professional development and promotion of Atlantic Canadian music, and is designed to bridge the gap between music and film through professional development sessions, one-on-one meetings between artists and music supervisors and exciting showcase performances. Music & Image is active throughout the year and offers an array of business development at Eastlink East Coast Music Week and the Atlantic Film Festival.
Celebrating its ninth edition at Eastlink East Coast Music Week 2013, Music & Image brought together music buyers and supervisors from the film and television industry to explore opportunities for today's musician in the new global marketplace. The new Music & Image: Music Supervision Mentorship Program prepped industry professionals and companies with the insight to expand their career and business opportunities in the world of film, television and music supervision. Featured conference topics included Video and Content Production - How to Make The Most of Your Digital Footprint and a unique Music Supervision - The Real Deal, LIVE! interactive session where top music supervisors explored the ins and outs of music supervision and pitched their current and future projects. The Music & Image: 10 x 10 Video Screening & Mixer put the spotlight on an array of featured videos and a networking forum to connect with the movers and shakers in the industry.
With the Music & Image Conference as part of the 25th annual Eastlink East Coast Music Week (ECMW) wrapped, the Atlantic Film Festival (AFF) and the East Coast Music Association are pleased to announce that the 10 x 10 Music Video Program will return for a third year as part of the 33rd Atlantic Film Festival Music & Image activities planned for September 13-16, 2013 in Halifax.
Also returning for its third year is the RBC 10 X 10 Emerging Artist Award, a $10,000 juried prize presented to the winning filmmaker and musician pair. This September, ten Atlantic Canadian filmmakers and ten Atlantic Canadian musicians/bands will be paired up again to produce ten music videos, over five days of on-the-ground shooting and editing. Participants will work together to develop a music video treatment, create a story board and shot list, shoot, edit and will end up with a music video that can be used by the participants as a promotional tool.
“We are delighted to offer programs like 10 x 10, which provide opportunities for filmmakers and musicians to develop unique working relationships,” said Andrea Thomas, Director of Operations for the AFF. “Through these new connections, artists can increase their exposure to attract new audiences & markets.”
“Atlantic Canada has a rich collection of talent and this competition is about advancing the professional aspirations of the region’s up-and-coming artists," said Lori Smith, Manager, Public Affairs, RBC. “RBC is proud to support the 10 x 10 Video Mentoring program, which is a valuable springboard for both filmmakers and musicians. Last year's entries were of an extremely high calibre, and we know we're in for more of the same in 2013."
The deadline for 10 X 10 Music Video Program applications is Monday, April 15, 2013 at 5pm AST. For more information on how to apply, visit:
