East Coast Music Association Announces New Executive Director

Charlottetown, PEI – The East Coast Music Association (ECMA) is pleased to announce that Su Hutchinson has accepted the role of Executive Director with the Association.

Hutchinson hails from Waterloo, Ontario, and has worked for such organizations as Toronto’s Tarragon Theatre, The Writers’ Trust of Canada, and Soulpepper Theatre Company. She is currently the general manager of Quinlan Road Limited – Loreena McKennitt’s independent record label. She has substantial experience in corporate, individual, foundation and government fundraising, event planning and five years of experience in many facets of the music industry.

“In accepting the position as the new Executive Director of the East Coast Music Association, I am eager to apply my fundraising and music industry experience to this exceptional organization,” says Hutchinson who will take over the position from out-going executive director Steve Horne whose tenure wraps up at the AGM in June. “My foremost duty will be to support our members both artist and industry, and the East Coast communities as a whole to maintain and nurture the vast musical talent that is synonymous with a strong and vibrant culture.”

Wade Pinhorn, Chair of the ECMA Board of Directors, says board and staff are looking forward to Hutchinson’s arrival. “With a change in leadership comes new vision and new ideas and we are looking forward to working closely with Su on a re-energized future for ECMA.”

The East Coast Music Awards, Festival & Conference is an annual event organized by the ECMA as a critical part of its mission statement. The ECMA is a not-for-profit organization whose mandate it is to foster, promote and celebrate East Coast music locally and globally. The ECMA currently has 1,000 members.
