ECMA & Assante partner to present Music in the Park - August 25th in the Hydrostone Market!

Assante Hydrostone, in association with the ECMA and media sponsor CBC, is inviting the public to join them for Music in the Park, a free concert at the Hydrostone Park, on Saturday August 25th.

Music in the Park is a free public concert created to celebrate one of Halifax’s most historic and unique neighborhoods, the Hydrostone.  People are encouraged to bring a chair or throw down a blanket and come to the Hydrostone Park (Kaye Street) to enjoy the hospitality of the local restaurants, merchants and listen to some great local musicians.

As Music in the Park enters its second year, it will switch to a new one day format that will feature a new performer taking the stage every hour between noon and 5pm.

“We wanted to give people an opportunity to enjoy more than one artist and make it into a larger celebration.  Moving it to a weekend makes it a bit easier for people to attend and easier for families to come out and enjoy the day.” - Richard Alderman, Branch Manager, Assante Hydrostone.

This year Music in the Park will feature live performances from Molly Thomason, Carleton Stone, Mo Kenney, Kim Wempe and Dylan Guthro.

"In anticipation of East Coast Music Association's 25th Anniversary event in Halifax March 6 to 10, 2013, we are delighted to partner with Assante Hydrostone for Music in the Park in the Hydrostone," said Scott Burke, Executive Director of the ECMA. "We're really looking forward to showcasing some of the East Coast's best up and coming singer/songwriters, and celebrating one of the most beautiful neighbourhoods in Halifax. As a North End Halifax resident, I know it will be a fantastic day filled with free live music and family fun."

In addition to the musical line up, Assante Hydrostone will be help raise funds to establish a special North End grant for the Awesome Foundation of Halifax.

"The Halifax Awesome Foundation is thrilled to be partnering with Music in the Park to double the amount of awesomenisity we dole out in August.  The North End of Halifax is an inspiring place and has a real sense of community.  We are excited about partnering with community members to make it even more awesome; in this case, giving out two $1,000 cash grants for ideas or projects that will contribute to North End Awesomenisity!" Mike Kennedy, co-Dean of Awesome

Music in the park runs from 12:00pm to 5:00pm on August 25th with the last performer coming on stage at 4pm.
