ECMA Job Posting: Operations Manager
Since its inception in 1989, The East Coast Music Association (ECMA) has been a regional collaboration of people in the music industry. The ECMA is a registered non-profit association whose mission is to foster, develop, promote and celebrate East Coast Music and its artists locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. The annual ECMA Music Week is the most comprehensive and exciting international music event in Atlantic Canada.
East Coast Music Association is currently searching for an experienced and competent leader to fill the role of Operations Manager. This position has overall responsibility for East Coast Music Association’s Accounting, General and Human Resources Management. The incumbent should be passionate about East Coast music, be results driven, resourceful with a keen attention to detail.
Major Responsibilities and Duties Include:

Accounting / Bookkeeping - Perform ECMA’s day-to-day bookkeeping including accounts receivables, payables, draft cheques for authorized signatures, reconcile bank statements, manage cash flow, CRA remittances

Manage event revenues, expense reports, payroll including adding new hires, issuing ROEs, T4s, etc.

Manage purchase order system and controls.

Manage ECMA safety program, ensuring compliance with municipal, provincial and federal regulations.

Arrange for purchase and maintenance of office equipment within approved budgets and as required.

Manage the HR department including maintaining employee files, ensuring contracts, job descriptions are up-to-date, administer performance review process.

Prepare detailed financial statements, budgets as required.

Prepare and present regular status reports.

Write grant applications as required.

Reconcile and prepare reports as necessary for grant and funding purposes.
Qualifications:

University or College Degree, or Certificate related to Business Administration and / or Accounting.

Excellent written and spoken communication skills.

A minimum of 5 years bookkeeping / accounting experience.

Strong spreadsheet and accounting software skills.

Effective database and records management abilities.

Understanding of CRA reporting requirements.

Self-motivated, with an organized and efficient work ethic - the ability to manage one's own time effectively and without extensive supervision but can also work constructively as part of a team.

Familiarity working in the not-for-profit sector.

The ability to manage the competing demands and expectations of multiple stakeholders.

Proven computer, Internet and technical skills (e.g. MS Office, Simply Accounting / Quickbooks, graphic/web design/database applications, etc.).
