Strawberry is a legendary multi-day, family camping music festival, located in the Sierra Nevada foothills now celebrating its 43rd year and 71st festival. Bix has been a key part of the production crew since 1985, mostly focussed on connecting the festival together with the innovative Strawberry Hog — live, low-power, fm, festival radio. A retired mathematics teacher, Mr. Beeman now acts as General Manager for Strawberry Music. Held at the Nevada County Fairgrounds in Grass Valley, about an hour north of Sacramento, the festival hosts dozens of musical acts playing bluegrass, blues, folk, swing, indie rock, gospel, Cajun, and Celtic—and probably some unlabeled genres too. The spring 2023 Strawberry Music Festival takes place from May 25-29.
