Mike has been in the music industry his entire working life – in record retail, record companies, independent promotion, television, talent booking, artist management, event production - and is now the Programming Director of The Carleton - Music Nova Scotia’s Venue of the Year for 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018; the Venue of the Year from the ECMA in 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2018 and winner of the Canada Music Live award for Best Small Venue in Canada in 2017 and 2022 - in Halifax. He is also the music curator of the Halifax Urban Folk Festival (HUFF), which runs annually in the last week of September through the the 1st Sunday in October. 2023 marks the festival’s 14th year.
