Sol Castañeda is the Community Outreach Coordinator and Co-artistic director (2026) of the Skeleton Park Arts Festival (SPAF). Sol has been part of the Mexican and Canadian Art & Culture industry. Currently she’s Board of Directors at the Kingston Arts Council. She also is part of the Arts, Culture and Heritage Advisory Committee and Kingston Mayor’s Arts Awards Nomination Subcommittee (2025).

Spaf is a non-profit summer solstice celebration, during the Summer Solstice Weekend, June 19-21 2026 (21st edition). This free, family-oriented event takes place in McBurney Park and the surrounding neighbourhood. There will be multidisciplinary artists from Kingston and around the world, in addition to family and heritage activities.

This year’s festival includes a diverse range of players, such as local singer-songwriters, Piner and Hannah Georgas, East/Southeaster Women Taiko Drummers "Raging Asian Women", alternative rock band Forty Seven Teeth, R&B Soul artist Witch Prophet, and traditional Quebecois trio Genticorum. Events in the park will run on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to dusk. On Sunday, take in the late morning Porch Jazz Parade, a fun traversal through the neighbourhood streets, with concerts on front porches along the way.
