Mike has dedicated his entire career to the music industry, working in record retail, record companies, independent promotion, television, talent booking, artist management, and event production. He currently serves as the Programming Director of Atlantic Canada’s award-winning venue, The Carleton, which has received two nominations for Best Small Venue in Canada from the Canadian Live Music Association. Additionally, he is the Artistic Director of the Halifax Urban Folk Festival (HUFF), an annual event held from the end of September through the first weekend of October, with 2024 marking its 15th anniversary.

With an 18-year tenure at MuchMusic, Mike co-hosted Mike & Mike’s Excellent X Canada Adventures, MuchEast, and Going Coastal. Having lived in Halifax for 26 years, he has remained deeply involved in the East Coast music scene since leaving MuchMusic in 2002. His contributions include programming pop/rock talent for the National Arts Centre’s Atlantic Scene festival in 2003, booking the Marquee Club in 2004–2005, and producing JunoFest in Halifax in 2006.

Over the years, Mike has worked extensively with the East Coast Music Awards (ECMAs), the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS), and FACTOR. He has also served on the board of Music Nova Scotia for two decades and was a founding board member of the Unison Benevolent Fund, a charitable organization supporting musicians and industry professionals in times of need.
