JUNO Winner Mi'kmaq fiddler and singer, Morgan Toney, merges Cape Breton's fiery fiddling with ancient Mi’kmaq melodies. Through his fusion of Mi’kmaq and Celtic traditions, dubbed Mi’kmaltic, Toney unites Atlantic music and Mi’kmaq teachings, harmonizing song and fiddle. His latest album ""Resilience"" (Ishkōdé Records) earned him a 2024 JUNO nomination for Traditional Roots Album of the Year and two 2024 ECMA awards (Roots/Traditional Recording of the Year and Indigenous Artist of the Year).

Toney's debut album ""First Flight"" (Ishkōdé Records) won him the 2023 East Coast Music Award for Indigenous Artist of the Year and garnered critical acclaim, and a Canadian Folk Music Award nomination. With ""Resilience"", he explores the stories of the Mi’kmaq People, inspired by ancestral teachings.
