Richy Muirhead is a Glasgow-based event and project manager with over 16 years’ experience in the music industry. He is the founder of the Scottish Alternative Music Awards (SAMA) and co-founder of PITCH Scotland, an international hip hop and underground music platform, delivering award programmes, music conferences, showcases, cultural exchanges, and international export initiatives.

Through SAMA Events, the organisation supports artists both nationally and internationally, presenting Scottish talent overseas while also programming and hosting artists, speakers, and industry professionals from across the UK, Europe, the United States, and Canada. Across the year, SAMA and PITCH showcase talent at events including SXSW London, Liverpool Sound City, New Skool Rules, Pro Weekend Fest, SHIP, and FOCUS Wales. As a freelancer, Richy has worked with organisations including Roadrunner Records, Red Bull, BBC Scotland, Creative Scotland, and PRS Foundation, and champions fair, artist-focused events and initiatives that reflect contemporary music culture.
