Vic Close is the Artistic Director and guiding force behind Fish Creek Concerts, one of Calgary’s most respected folk and roots music series. Since 2006, he has championed the presentation of live folk, roots, blues, and world music in intimate, community-focused settings, building a loyal audience drawn to authentic, high-quality musical experiences.

Deeply embedded in Canada’s folk music ecosystem, Vic is a passionate presenter and advocate for artists. He serves on the Board of the Canadian Folk Music Awards and is part of the team bringing the 2026 awards to Calgary, further strengthening the city’s role in the national folk landscape. Known for his hands-on approach, Vic blends curatorial instinct with practical production expertise—supporting touring artists, nurturing local talent, and creating spaces where stories and songs resonate.
