Wages Argott is the Assistant to the President and Director of Freelance Services and Membership Development for the American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada (AFM), leading federation wide initiatives supporting freelance and independent musicians. Since 2021, Argott has driven the AFM’s modern freelance organizing strategy, revitalizing national programs, expanding digital services, and strengthening cross Local coordination. Argott played a central role in developing the AFM’s newest player conference, the Freelance Musicians Association (FMA), guiding its evolution into a binational, member led body with formal governance, active committees, and growing influence across the Federation. A lifelong musician, Argott has worked across various genres as a touring and NYC-based freelance trumpet player, bringing firsthand industry experience to his advocacy. Argott’s work centers on building durable organizing infrastructure, expanding access, and elevating the voices of working musicians.
