Wendy brings more than three decades of journalistic experience to the job. Covering the political, social and economic stories of Cape Breton Island as the host of Mainstreet Cape Breton, Wendy has also become one of Cape Breton's most recognized cultural observers, interviewing virtually every artist, author and musician on the Island. She has served as a juror and/or as an executive board member for the ECMAs, the Canadian Folk Music Awards, The Savoy Theatre and several other cultural and musical organizations. She has programmed music in Atlantic Canada for the last 25 years, often giving artists their first exposure to a radio audience.

This experience has allowed Wendy to pursue a variety of projects. She was a collaborating scholar on several SSHRC (Sherck) funded projects, presented several academic papers at conferences, including the International Society for Ethnomusicology, and was a contributing writer and editor to the "Cape Breton Fiddle Companion" by Dr. Liz Doherty from the University of Ulster.

She received an Atlantic Journalism Award for her documentary "A New Dawn." She is also the recipient of the Stompin Tom Award from the ECMAs for outstanding contribution to the music industry. She holds the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Medal for her contributions to the arts and communications. She also holds the King Charles Coronation Medal for her contribution to the community as a broadcaster. She has a Bachelor's degree from the University of Saskatchewan, studied film at the University of Regina and holds an MA in Interdisciplinary Research.

Wendy is also very active in the community hosting and moderating dozens of concerts and conventions every year.
