Region: Newfoundland and Labrador
Genre: Country, Indie, Singer-Songwriter

Lorna Lovell, an Indigenous Singer/Songwriter from the island portion of Newfoundland and Labrador, released her debut album, “Whenever I Sing”, on February 28, 2020. With hints of Pop, Rock and Blues, the Contemporary Country album is emotionally charged, entertaining, and sprinkled with her charm & humour. Produced by Clint Curtis at Sevenview Studios, the album also features electric & acoustic guitars, bass, keyboards (Clint Curtis) and drums (Steve Clarke). Since her first album release, Lorna has been busy with a television sync placement (Hope To Bring with Rachel Cousins and Virginia Fudge), two 2020 MusicNL Award nominations, a music video and new singles released. She was featured in a Hospitality NL tourism advertising campaign and has performed several live shows, including opening for Country Artist Jason Benoit, as well as recording and performing at First Light Indigenous Art and Performance Centre. Lorna kept busy writing during the lockdowns, and performing virtually for fans on social media and Local Sounds on Rogers Cable. She continues to give back to her local community by performing at Long Term Care Homes to the delight of many of our precious seniors, and will be recording a Christmas Special this year at Village Music. As her first single playfully revealed, Lorna is a true “Island Girl” and enjoys hiking, beach combing and bird watching, using the serenity & beauty of her home Province as inspiration – evident in her new video for All Your Dances. Island Girl continues to get added to more raddio stations and is streamed even as far away as Japan! Her musical influences include her father, Gordon Lovell, as well as Corey Hart, Shania Twain, Miranda Lambert, Sarah MacLachlan, and many more. Plans for a new album in 2022 are under way and will include new songs written during and since 2020, with a tentative title of “Survival Mode”, incorporating the Native American drum and flute with an edgier sound that is closer to Pop/Rock than Country. This new album will bring to light issues surrounding love in all it's forms from an Indigenous female perspective. https://www.lornalovell.com/music
