Recently named, “Teen Queen….the future of Halifax pop.” - THE COAST

Maura Whitman began performing music before she was old enough to reach the keys on the family piano.  Accompanied by her father and brother, she could be found courageously belting out holiday standards and sing-along favorites at local churches and coffee houses.  Those younger years would prove to be highly influential.  Maura fell in love with music.  In particular, she fell in love with writing music.  She grew.  The family piano became her friend.  The songs happened.  Maura has created an ambitious catalogue of original music, establishing her music career with the release of “Spread Your Wings” in 2015. She has performed at countless festivals and local events, opening for Gordie Sampson, Neon Dreams, Dennis Ellsworth, Christina Martin, performing alongside Brad Roberts of the Crash Test Dummies and recently opening for Serena Ryder, many call her stage presence unprecedented and captivating for her 17 years of age.

Maura is a fresh face with her vocals and songwriting ability. Invited as one of Nova Scotia’s most promising young songwriters to take part in the prestigious, Gordie Sampson Songwriting Camp gave her an opportunity to collaborate with some of Canada’s most sought after writers and producers:  Grammy Award winner Gordie Sampson, Canadian Producer Thomas Tawgs Salter, Nashville powerhouse writer Thomas Daniel and Producer Famba signed by Sony Records.  This cowriting experience set the tone of where she wants to go with her music and took her songwriting to a whole new level.
