A SOULFUL BLuesy Roots MUSIC JOURNEY
Described as a definitive live performer - soulful, bluesy roots singer-songwriter Mike Biggar is known for his intense, roiling live performance, signature soaring vocals and warm, disarming on-stage humour. His songs have earned him affection from listeners and accolades from industry. Following the 2017 release of his third album GO ALL IN (03/10/17 Busted Flat Records), Biggar’s latest offering of songwriting prowess was again recognized, receiving the 2017 Music New Brunswick Award for 'Blues Artist of the Year', and now a 2018 East Coast Music Award nomination for ‘Blues Recording of the Year’. These latest accolades add to his twice previous Music NB Award wins (2014 and 2011), an East Coast Music Award (2012) and numerous other nominations and acclaim. GO ALL IN has received glowing reviews, radio play and interviews across Canada, Europe and Australia, with special features in key publications such as the UK’s Blues Matters and FATEA magazines.
Biggar unfurls his music with a soulful, potent conviction. His gutsy, bluesy delivery reflects his childhood roots in gospel music. His songs and compelling on-stage delivery disappear the distance between the stage and the listener, drawing you in to be a part of the stories he tells. His high energy vocals steam down the line like a soulful roots-inspired freight train, while his noted emotional performance punctuates his songs with raw honesty.
GO ALL IN is a roots music evolution for Biggar, achieved by connecting more deeply than ever with his own musical history. The result is a delightfully eclectic collection that cuts across genre boundaries while offering a compelling representation of Biggar's own musical lineage. And his noted tradition for top level co-writing continues, pairing with East Coast Blues marvel Charlie A'Court, Newfoundland producer/R&B artist Chris Kirby, and Canadian Country hit-maker Chris Cummings.
Biggar has been a featured performer on East Coast festival stages including the iconic Stan Rogers Folk Festival, the Kempt Shore Folk Festival, the Cavendish Beach Music Festival, the Harvest Festival and more, and he has shared the stage with artists such as Steve Earle, Gordie Sampson, Matt Andersen, Stephen Fearing, Lynn Miles, Dave Gunning, Ron Hynes, Rose Cousins, Tomato/Tomato, Del Barber, The Brothers Landreth, and more.

'go all in' reviews:
• FATEA Magazine (United Kingdom):
"Sometimes you listen to music that stops you dead in your tracks, you could be driving and have to pull over, or it's on in the background and you immediately have to turn up the volume for a better listen, & 'Go All In ' is that kind of release...He really has found his sound and groove with this album, I can see his soul in it, it moves me every time I listen, no matter what track is playing, I connect, I feel the passion and hunger he has for the music." • THE ROCK DOCTOR (Kelowna BC):
“Go All In...sounds like what a lot of albums want to be - emotionally honest...and darn near irresistible. The songs are catchy, authentic and believable lyrically, and the musicianship is forceful. Mike Biggar may not be a household name yet, but it’s only a matter of time." Read full review
