Zachary attended St. Thomas University, where he continued to develop his skills in music composition under the tutelage of notable composer and professor, Martin Kutnowski. During his time there he had various pieces performed by the university's chamber ensemble, as well as premieres by the Saint John String Quartet. Following his time at St. Thomas, he was selected to participate in the ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop at NYU where he composed work under the critique of prominent composers like Sean Callery (Jessica Jones) and Mark Snow (X-Files), as well as a year of studying composition at Memorial University in St. John's Newfoundland.

With a major priority on being a versatile composer, he's produced music for a number of projects including two theatre productions at St. Thomas University (The Trickster of Seville and his Stone Guest, No White Picket Fence), as well as the Canadian feature film Alice in the Attic (2015). In 2016 he won the New Brunswick Student Composer Competition. In 2018 he was one of three composers picked in the Gower Band Competition at Memorial University, and later that year received the Excellence in Music Composition award at the Silver Wave Film Festival for the short film titled, The Nashwaak. He's recently completed original music to be featured in the upcoming documentary series by Rogue River Productions called Yukon Harvest, which is set to air in 2020.

He's also been active as a recording artist, with three instrumental album releases in 2019 (The Way Home, Beneath Black Glass, Bloodletting) and two new albums coming for 2020.
