The East Coast Music Association is proud to announce renowned east coast artists, singer songwriter Rose Cousins and musician and CBC music host Damhnait Doyle to co-host the 36th annual East Coast Music Awards, presented by Rogers, at the Delta Prince Edward Confederation Ballroom in Charlottetown, PE, Thursday, May 2 at 8 p.m.

Hailing from Prince Edward Island and now based in Halifax, NS, Rose Cousins (winner of 11 ECMAs and two JUNOs and a Grammy nominee), is a mainstay of the East Coast Music scene. Fresh off her highly acclaimed and JUNO award-winning album, Bravado (2021), Cousins returns to the ECMA Awards stage to host for a second time, having done so in 2013 alongside Fredericton’s David Myles. One of Cousins’ greatest skills, aside from her acclaimed songwriting, is her constant collaboration with artists from all over the world and right here in Atlantic Canada. You can find her featured on numerous East Coast albums, with an equal number of artists featured in her music and almost always a few brought on stage to perform with her. The shared experience of music is what makes Cousins tick, and she never fails to pull the audience in.

“I'm looking forward to getting into some good trouble with the brilliant and hilarious Damhnait Doyle as we co-host the 2024 ECMAs,” says Cousins. “I’m excited to discover and highlight the talent of the region and I truly love celebrating it all in PEI!”

Born and raised in Newfoundland and Labrador and now living in Toronto, ON, Damhnait Doyle (winner of seven ECMAs and a two-time JUNO nominee) has been releasing music since the late 90’s. Not only as a solo artist, but in the group Shaye, alongside Tara MacLean and Kim Stockwood, and in The Heartbroken. A passionate songwriter, Doyle has written not only her own songs, but songs for numerous artists, as well as for film and television. A true music industry chameleon, she now lends her voice to radio as CBC Music’s Weekend Mornings host. A storyteller and an advocate for storytellers across the music industry, Doyle knows how to capture her audience's ear.

"I am beyond excited to plant my feet in the red clay on PEI and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to host the East Coast Music Awards this year with my buddy and PEI treasure Rose Cousins,” says Doyle. “So, looking forward to soaking up every single minute of the incredible music and people of the east coast.”

The East Coast Music Awards, presented by Rogers, is the marquee event of the five-day festival.

“These two hosts exemplify so much of what sets East Coast artists apart: beautiful songwriting and heartfelt collaborations,” says Andy McLean, CEO of ECMA. ”Both exemplary artists in creating connections and exquisite storytellers, there is no doubt going to be some great chemistry on stage at the 36th annual East Coast Music Awards.”
