"As someone who has grown up in a musical family and also played basketball at the provincial level, it was clear to me those two things went hand in hand,” says Julien Matwawana, Co-Chair of the ECMA All-Star Committee and Executive Director of the African Nova Scotian Music Association (ANSMA). “We hope everyone can come out to watch some of your favourite local artists and community personalities shoot some hoops in support of BGC St. John’s!”
"As we prepare for the third annual ECMA All-Stars Charity Basketball Game, we’re reminded of the incredible purpose behind this event," says Shannon Parlee, Treasurer on the ECMA Board of Directors and Co-Chair of the ECMA All-Star Committee. "Basketball and music have always been intertwined in my life, and this game is a wonderful way to bring those passions together for a cause that truly matters. Over the past three years, this event has evolved into more than just a fun gathering—it’s a chance to unite our community and make a meaningful difference. Seeing the generosity and enthusiasm from everyone involved is inspiring, and we’re excited to come together once again to support BGC St. John’s!."
The ECMA All-Stars Charity Basketball Game is free to attend and open to all ages. Donations are encouraged in support of BGC St John’s. Donations can be made in-person at the game or online HERE.
