PRE-CONFERENCE: MUSIC SUPERVISION 101 VIRTUAL SESSION

This year, ECMA is pleased to present this virtual pre-conference workshop focused on music licensing and will take participants through the basics of music supervision and bring you into the minds of a Music Supervisor. This virtual session will be led by instinct entertainment's Michael Perlmutter (Facebook Page) who will share his creative process and provide insights and tips for getting your songs placed in film and television. This introductory workshop will cover the basics of music supervision, working with the film and TV communities and provide an opportunity to ask questions in order to demystify the process of licensing your music for film and TV. This is a 101 session and is not meant for those that are more experienced in sync and licensing deals.

The interactive mentorship will explore various layers of the craft of music supervision and how the job relates to you: the artist, manager, label, publisher or the 'music supervisor in training’.
Michael Perlmutter, Music Supervisor at instinct entertainment will take you behind the scenes and look at the music supervisor’s creative process, explore scenes in detail, and break down a script. He will discuss creative collaborations and the process of working with Producers and Directors, break down business concepts, define terms and rights of deals, discuss negotiation techniques, explain how to get songs Sync-ed, and 'blue sky' the future of Sync for you. Michael will also be joined by Tony Scudellari, Senior Vice President, Television Music at Sony Pictures Television to share his perspective working with music at a major television network.

When music and visuals come together on screen, a scene comes to life. The impact music has on a scene can be quite profound - driving emotion and energy. A group of Music Supervisors have been provided the same scene from a local film and have each selected a song for that scene. Join this session where they will breakdown and discuss their creative process - giving you an inside look into the mind of Music Supervisors.
