Fiona Black is the founding Director of Programming for the BlueShore Centre for the Performing Arts at Capilano University in BC. For the past 29 years, she has produced and programmed the Cap Jazz Series, Cap Global Roots Series and North Shore Jazz, a satellite series presented in partnership with the Vancouver International Jazz Festival.

In addition, Fiona is a guest curator at the Kay Meek Arts Centre for two of their non-classical music series (Amplify & Cabaret). In March 2023, Fiona joined the Vancouver Folk Festival Board and stepped up to program the 2023 VFMF edition under challenging circumstances of a very short time-frame to book acts, as well as budget uncertainty and issues with public confidence. The 2023 VFMF edition ended up being a very successful event leaving the troubled festival in good shape for 2024 with a more positive outlook for its future. In September 2023, Fiona was hired as the new Artistic Director for VFMF.

The 49th annual Vancouver Folk Music Festival is scheduled for July 17–19, 2026. Held at Vancouver’s Jericho Beach Park, this renowned, community-based festival features over 40 international, national, and local acts performing folk, roots, and world music on multiple stages.
