Roger Bouwens is the founder and chair of Toernee Mondial (est. 1995), a cooperative network of 20 city owned cultural centres in Flanders, Belgium that collaboratively facilitate concert tours. The venues are publicly run cultural centres, ranging from small scale theatres to mid sized concert halls, deeply embedded in their local communities. The network focuses on Folk and World music in the broadest sense, from traditional roots and acoustic music to contemporary global sounds, cross cultural projects, and singer songwriters. Previously, Roger was managing director and programmer of a 400 seat venue in Leopoldsburg (until 2014). Toernee Mondial celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2025. Roger is regularly invited to speak about this unique cooperative model at professional gatherings and showcase festivals.
