Spencer Shewen is the Artistic Director of the Mariposa Folk Festival and Programming Manager at Noisemaker Presents. With more than 20 years in music programming and live event production, he’s built his career around supporting artists and creating memorable experiences for audiences.
From 2014 to 2026, Spencer served as Executive Director and Creative Director of Riverfest Elora, helping grow the festival into one of Ontario’s most respected boutique music events. His work across Canada reflects a deep belief in community, artist development, and the power of live music to bring people together. He has also served on the boards of the Hillside Festival, River and Sky, and the Elora Centre for the Arts, staying closely connected to the arts communities he cares so much about.
The renowned Mariposa Folk Festival is a historic, three-day musical celebration held annually in July at Tudhope Park in Orillia, Ontario. As one of North America's longest-running folk gatherings, it features over 100 performances across 11 stages, showcasing a diverse lineup of renowned and emerging folk, roots, and blues artists. The 2026 festival will take place from July 3-5.
