ECMA Remembers Bruce Guthro
ECMA is deeply saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Bruce Guthro.
Bruce’s impact on the East Coast and its music industry goes beyond what we can put into words - a true legend, an incredible man and inspiration to the Canadian and international music community. His tremendous talent garnered international acclaim as lead vocalist for the Scottish band, Runrig, for 20 years until their final performance in 2018. A musical giant who shared his gift with so many fans around the world, and his music family on the East Coast.
Bruce’s contributions in the early days of ECMA will long be remembered as he graciously helped and influenced countless artists along the way, always there to lend a helping hand.
A true songwriter who shared his gift with all those around him and inspired others to do the same. Though talented himself, he never shied from sharing the spotlight, generously highlighting other artists, songs and music from many other Canadian artists whenever his travels took him. Bruce loved to celebrate his peers, as much as they loved to celebrate him.
An exceptional singer, storyteller and musician, multiple ECMA winner, and down home Cape Bretonner, the loss of Bruce will reverberate through the music industry for years to come.
ECMA extends our heartfelt condolences to Bruce’s family, friends, and those in the music industry at large.
